Team Total grants awarded
Student life is full of opportunities. Team Total funding gives students the chance to take their project to the top! Our grants have helped students with their studies, extra-curricular fun and humanitarian projects and enabled student associations and student chapters to organize a range of activities, from field trips to participating in international conferences.
In 2017, there were 4 different Team Total grants, with a total of over €80,000 of funding for the selected projects:
- PUSH YOUR LIMITS – Funding to take part in a sporting competition, adventure challenge or cultural event
- INNOVATE – Support for student organizations with a passion for innovation and sustainable energy who want to bring a new idea to life
- OUTREACH – Funding for projects which aim to improve living standards in your community or overseas
- DREAM TICKET – Support for geosciences and petroleum engineering student associations to complete study trips, international conference participation or professional development activities.
We are happy to announce the following winners from Australia in two of the categories of Team Total:
The University of Queensland, Brisbane Spark Partnerships Team won in the Outreach Category for the Spark Engineering Camp. Spark Engineering Camp is a non-profit, Youth Without Borders initiative that provides an opportunity for grades 10-12 high school students to experience university life and introductory engineering. Their mission is simple: Spark strives to break down the barriers to accessing a university education. The camp targets school students from non-traditional backgrounds to engage in university life, in particular introducing the directions that engineering can take their future.
The Curtin University of Technology, SPECSC Team, won for the Dream Ticket Category. The Society of Petroleum Engineers Curtin Student Chapter (SPECSC) was founded late October 2010. As a student chapter we aim to bridge the gap between students and industry representatives and create opportunities to bring the two groups together. These predominantly include various networking evenings, guest and panel speaker events etc. The SPE Curtin Student Chapter also hosts various industry site visits, enabling students with experience in the field. A Petroleum Geology and Engineering field trip to give a diverse group of students exposure to the oil and gas industry.
