Total to support Alliance Française Darwin

Total is pleased to announce that it has become a sponsor of Alliance Française Darwin, supporting its numerous activities in the Darwin community ranging from French language tuition to events that celebrate French life and culture.

This is the first time Total has supported Alliance Française Darwin, reflecting Total’s strong presence in the Northern Territory as the major partner in the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG project.

Total has over 45 employees seconded into INPEX’s Ichthys project team to provide project management and technical expertise as the project undergoes construction. This includes 10 Total secondees and their families living and working in Darwin, with this number expected to grow over coming months as the project continues to make progress.

David Mendelson, Managing Director of Total E&P Australia, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to support Alliance Française, an organisation that promotes interaction between the French and Australian cultures, and to do so in a city that is so important to Total’s business in Australia.”

Besides the community activities supported by the Ichthys project in Darwin and the wider Northern Territory, Total also contributes directly through the provision of specialist lecturers to Charles Darwin University (CDU). Under the global Total Professors Association, current and retired Total industry specialists provide one-week courses once or twice a year to CDU students and the wider NT business community on subjects ranging from gas processing to project management.
